Harriet and Harriett not being recognised as synonyms

Question

I accidentally created a duplicate profile for Harriet Lockyer because in the existing profile her name is spelled with two t's and it did not come up as a possible match.

Is this something that can be fixed in the system to recognise they are the same name?

We weren't able to do this for the recent search changes, but it's still on the list of things to do in the future.

The search function here still doesn't recognize first name synonyms.

We can use the wildcards * and ? when we do searches, and to help other people find profiles,  it'sgood practice to include variant spellings in the profile data for the profiles we create or edit (for example, in Other Nicknames).
