I went through all of my record and hit approval. Nothing is happening. What am I missing? This is not the first go around and evidently I'm doing something wrong. Please help.

Ah I see you uploaded the gedcom three times which can cause a problem, this is noted for you on the gedcom report page, as well as the message about the file being very large. It seems you have not yet approved the import, the most likely thing is that when you clicked the approve button there was an error, maybe you missed one of the profile checks. It also seems that your file is excessivly large, I thought the maximum was 1500 but the rules do keep changing.

In any case I would recomend your first gedcom upload to be a maximum of about 50 people, you get a better idea of the work involved before commiting yourself to hours of work a day for months on end which could result from uploading 1800 profiles.

I forgot to mention that the number of profiles with no dates might be a problem as well, the review process will check things like that and the number of sources.

Also from the help pages -

We have two limits as to have many profiles should be managed by a user:

  • A new member should not manage more than 1,000 profiles.
  • An experienced member should not manage more than 5,000 profiles.

The reviewer will check your Watchlist to see how many profiles you are currently managing. The number of profiles in your current Watchlist plus the number in your GEDCOM shouldn't exceed the limits.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you editing or creating profiles?

If something is not right with the edit or creation page there is usually a message at the top of the page, with a yellow background that explains what is wrong.

Hi Karyn, After you have approved your gedcom for import your gedcom then gets reveiwed.  This can take 24-48 hours, then you will receive an email.

Yes, I went through all of my records and marked according to how they want them. No error message. It says I completed it and waiting for WikiTree. THEN, I go back later and check it only to see it's back to getting my approval again. I do NOT know what I'm doing wrong and I want to give up at this point.

Looking now, it says that you have completed your approval process. So now you just have to wait for Eowyn to get to it and approve it from her end.

However, there may be problems that will keep it from being approved (in which case Eowyn will contact you and help you figure out your next step). For example, I can see that you have a lot of profiles without birth dates (and only a handful of those have death dates).

If there is someone without a birth date then it's information I got directly from a family member but I can't confirm the date, so it's not added until I do. In addition to this, I might have gotten the info from an old obituary or the like and don't have the specific date but I have the name. In which case, I feel it's relevant enough to include.

Karyn, there is an "uncertain" option to click next to most vital information fields. This allows you to estimate a birth date.

Empty birth fields in particular are a real problem on wikitree, which is why GEDCOMs that have a lot of them won't be approved.
