I have seen the Patton Compendium by David V Agricola mentioned on Google searches but can't seem to get much information on it.  Dave

Hi Dave,

Its a series of books you may be able to access through your library.  Try this link for info: http://www.worldcat.org/title/patton-lineages-originating-in-pennsylvania-prior-to-the-american-revolution/oclc/866134633

After running across a mention the Pennsylvania volume on a profile, I created a WikiTree Space page for it at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Patton_Lineages_Originating_in_Pennsylvania_Prior_to_the_American_Revolution

I did that before looking to see if the book can give me information about my Pennsylvania-born 3G grandmother named Patton. surprise

Thanks for mentioning this, and the link, Laurie!

I wasn't aware of this source, and it's turned out to be very useful for me. Unfortunately it's also called into question a section of my family tree. Elizabeth Ann Patton may not be his mother:

Not enough sources yet to prove one way or the other. But I also got her family fixed up because of this source.

Thank you Laurie for the link.  I will go to my library and try to get a copy to read.  Eric- have you actually used the Patton Compendium?  I'm curious if it is a book or just a collection of articles.
I used it yesterday, online. It seems to be a series of books, with a ton of information about Patton families. Almost like a One Name Study, in the United States.

If you go to the link that Laurie provided, then click on the entry for "Family History Library" in Salt Lake City, that goes to here in the FamilySearch library online:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/oclc/866134633?availability=Family%20History%20Library

You'll probably need to have a FamilySearch account, but it is free to get.

See the "Notes" section at the bottom of that page. It says "To view a digital version of this item click here". Clicking that gets you an online copy of that book. No having to go to a library.

Now the entire "Patton compendium" is here:

http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=hotseries&q=se%3A%22Patton+compendium%22

I have not tried out the other volumes. Perhaps they are also available with online copies as well, through FamilySearch. I don't know. You'll have to try it out.

Good luck!
Thanks Eric.  I got the volumes. Now to review them.  Dave

I have a copy of both the Patton's Of Ireland, lineages of Scots-Irish Derivation which were resident in Ulster 1600-1800 and the Patton Compendium of lineages originating in Pennsylvania. If you do a search on the web try this:https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topic/patton/5012/. I was told it was illegal to copy the larger lineage because of copyright. But  I will help if someone asks. I was just checking on Gratian Patton, and his son William was born in Fife Scotland in 1603 I need to make sure that this is true. Gratin is listed in a relationship search as my husbands 16th grandfather.
