I used it yesterday, online. It seems to be a series of books, with a ton of information about Patton families. Almost like a One Name Study, in the United States.
If you go to the link that Laurie provided, then click on the entry for "Family History Library" in Salt Lake City, that goes to here in the FamilySearch library online:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/oclc/866134633?availability=Family%20History%20Library
You'll probably need to have a FamilySearch account, but it is free to get.
See the "Notes" section at the bottom of that page. It says "To view a digital version of this item click here". Clicking that gets you an online copy of that book. No having to go to a library.
Now the entire "Patton compendium" is here:
http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=hotseries&q=se%3A%22Patton+compendium%22
I have not tried out the other volumes. Perhaps they are also available with online copies as well, through FamilySearch. I don't know. You'll have to try it out.
Good luck!
