Connection Envy - can you please help?

Outside of the profiles I have added for my family and a couple of relatives I have persuaded to join, I have never found anyone closer than 30 steps from me and even those go through a half dozen or so marriages.  I'd really love to someday discover someone that I am actually related to, rather than just connected to - if it's less than 10th cousin, no matter how many times removed, that would really make my day!

This week, I'm on the connection finder and would love to challenge everyone to discover my closest connection among all the active members here.  Please let me know how far I am from you.

THANX oodles!

Sorry.  36 degrees and no relationship found.  Maybe things will get better in another year as more people get added?
35 degrees... doesn’t mean it won’t happen! I’m adding new family of mine basically every day! (We also aren’t related at all apparently.)

37 degrees; sorry it's further than you hoped for!
by E. Gatlin G2G6 Mach 1 (16.1k points)

THANX for trying, E - I still consider you a cousin, just one that still needs more research to nail down how!

I get so jealous when I see people talking about how they're seventh cousins or twelfth cousins … everyone I know here is an infinityth cousin to me and I wanna be part of the family!

Sorry, 31 degrees.

Greg, that makes you the closest one I've found so far!  THANX for answering.
Hmmm... clearly, this is something we need to fix. Are you on Geni, perchance? If so, I could look for you there and then ask Geni to build a connection path. That might be shorter than the one we know.

Straight back to my 10th ggm, then through five marriages - 38 degrees!  But we are much closer in spirit.  :)
by Living Tardy G2G6 Pilot (766k points)
aww, Herbert, how sweet of you to say that!
38 degrees is only 3.3 Celsius!
I'll take it!  Being a girl, what do I know from numbers anyhow?

Sorry, only thru the connection finder and even then it is 38 steps. But keep checking new connections are made every day so you never know.

I keep on hoping, Dale … would love to be related to you!

I've been poking a couple of my Jewish friends to join Wikitree -- no luck yet. But I think we need more Jewish folks on here to find a close cousin for you! Oy vey.
by Jessica Key G2G6 Pilot (316k points)
You're probably right, Jessica.  I just checked you and we're 37 steps apart.
Well, if you've got a cousin who's single, set me up and if I marry him, we'll only be a couple steps apart. Problem solved!
Lol Jessica, you aren't the first person to suggest that as a way to get people connected to the tree https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/609061/who-the-main-center-profile-the-global-one-world-tree-anyway?show=613540#c613540
Dang, Jessica, I don't know of any single cousins, but maybe I could try meddling in some cousins' marriages - if they get a divorce then your plan could work - great idea!
I have a half-brother (not yet on Wikitree) who's been married and/or engaged a bunch of times, so if you end up single, I'll send you his phone number. We can make this happen, Gaile.

I'm the same number of connection steps from you as E. Gatlin--37, which is not below the magic number of less than 30.  Sorry!

THANX for trying, David.

When I realised where your ancestors came from I expected no connection, but found we are 47 degrees, I am still adding to my tree but I have very few relatives that left England, though I do have ancestry from Scotland and Wales - not my Jenkinson line - I always suspected they went back to Scandinavian prevalent on the East and West coast (of England) not Wales maybe a DNA test would be handy wink

I'm 42 degrees. I have some good connections across the Atlantic.

G’dang, Gaile, 37 degrees, and no blood connection! What’s up with that?!?
by Pip Sheppard G2G Astronaut (2.7m points)
I dunno, Pip, but it sure makes me feel ostracized from the world.

35 degrees. No relationship. So far.

I noticed that you manage a lot of Gordon profiles - figured for sure there'd be a connection there, but it's just not happening.

40 degrees!... But then I am related to very very few people on WikiTree, so I'm a very bad example.
by Isabelle Martin G2G6 Pilot (567k points)
Maybe WikiTree needs a disconnected category for folks like us.  That would give us a sort of inverse connection - we're disconnected together.

Sorry Gaile, 44 degrees and no relationship.  However we're closer than Isabelle and I - no relationship and no connections :-(

It's been quite a while since this was posted & anyone replied, but I checked the connections.  I broke that magic number w/ 25 on the connection finder.
