Where was LeRoy Dale Allen, after 1950?

My biological grandfather was LeRoy Dale Allen, born May 3, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents were Albert Allen and Louise Williams (Allen?) Howell.  Albert and Louise were supposedly divorced when LeRoy was two, and Albert remarried and had a son named Albert, Jr.  LeRoy's stepfather was Raymond Francis Howell. I've recently discovered LeRoy was in several prisons before 1950, which is probably why I hadn't been able to find anything on him since 1941, when he married Betty Jane Hamilton, my biological grandmother. The next year, they placed my father (Thomas Ashley Shelton, born Roy Dale Allen) for adoption.  LeRoy was due to be released from Leavenworth between 1948-50, and was to be picked up for a previous violation of parole at the Kansas State Reformatory. I don't know if he was sent there or if he went home to his parent's house, which was his plan. I know nothing else of him after that ... can't find a death certificate, date of death, anything except that his sister Frances (Frankie) Howell Evans' funeral notice listed a brother and sister already deceased.  What can I do next?

Since put up for adoption,in what State? Contact that State Adoption

Agency.See what info they need from you.Since you do not have a death cert

for him,may be difficult.Maybe they will give you his full name after he was

adopted.

Hi, thanks for trying to help me. It is my father (Tom, born Roy Dale Allen)  who was adopted, not his father (LeRoy Dale Allen). I know both of their full birth names. The adoption records do not help. I am trying to locate more about my biological grandfather.  Thank you again.

Are you in contact with biological family? If not, you could probably take a DNA test and see if any DNA matches can point you in the right direction. Other than that, searching through newspapers may be your best option. I think out of everything, DNA matches would be your best bet.

I have found a couple of DNA links for Dad on his father's side, but can't make sense of it. For instance, there is a second cousin for Dad listed (still living), and she and I have talked --- her grandmother was Bertha Delores Allen, if I recall correctly from memory. Her father was William Harvey Allen, but he is listed as only having the one child, Delores. Interestingly, on LeRoy's father's death certificate (which I did find) -- he's Albert Allen -- the witness for his death was that same William Harvey Allen. I verified by address for William Harvey Allen. I don't know how all this ties together.

According to his World War 2 Draft Registration in about 1942, LeRoy Dale Allen, b. 3 May 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri, was living at 1200 N. 12th, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. His mailing address was RR #3, Parkville, Missouri. He worked for Bob Staten in Fort Smith at the Yellow Cab Co. The person who would always know his whereabouts was Mrs. Louise Humell/Howell.("Arkansas First Draft Registration Cards, 1940-1945," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KLQ1-WZT : 13 March 2018), Leroy Dale Allen, 1940-1945; citing Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas, United States, National Archives and Records Administration, Southwest Region, Fort Worth, Texas; FamilySearch digital folder 005150928.)
