His dad ,George, passed away when he was only 3 years old. 4 months later his brother George Jr. was born. they moved 4 times and wound up in N. Dakota. There he built a log cabin, dragging cottonwoods up from the Missouri River. My dad and all his brothers and sister were born in that cabin. My dad and one of his brothers visited the homestead in 1980. No sign of the cabin anymore, but they found some pieces thrown down the well and I have a corner piece that they pulled out. It a treasure to me.

Williston, N. Dakota. Date: 1899. Age 19

What a wonderful keepsake!

My ancestor's old farm is right down the road from where I live, but nothing remains of the house. In fact, the property was bought out by the state to build a road, and an intersection was placed almost exactly where the center of the house would have been.

Wonderful Family Treasure.. Great Narrative .. Distinctive Hat .. it has American Western influences an English heritage with a circa military popularity. I think he was right handed as the valley is formed so ..

Avant Garde "modern", "silk white" tie with an overhand "wrapped" Windsor knot variation ! Keen, Cool Persona !

C'est Bon Magnifque .. ! Th'xs Robert Webb

This just doesn't look like  an 1899 picture.  I am not saying that it isn't.  I am just saying that he looks like a County Western Singer from today, with his hat and fancy suit. He has some gorgeous eyes, and that hat is sitting rakishly on his head, just the way they are worn today.

This is a beautiful picture, and you have already said that you are proud of the corner piece of the cabin that you have. You should also be very proud of this picture.  It is a treasure.

Thank you for sharing it with your WikiTree family.

God Bless!
