Can you make a portion of a biography private?

Hi all - hoping for help on a page I’m working on. I’ve made major discoveries re my father and his father/mother, and would like to be able to include that information in a section of my father’s bio that is private with restricted access to trusted group. For instance, I could include the relevant information in Research notes, if that was private. But it seems now that either everything in the bio is public or everything is private - not possible to make a portion private. Note that all parents/grandparents involved are dead, but does include NPE and so perhaps sensitive for some. Major impact is which paternal grandfather’s line we are on genetically. If there was a way to have a short public portion, I think that would be approprite because this person’s life story includes things that might be of interest, irrespective to his parents.

Chris' suggestion is a good one, but you could also try using html hidden comments

<!-- anything written inbetween here will only be visible in edit mode -->

It looks like you've tried to do that but you've used an em dash instead of two ascii dashes

"—" ( a single "dash" character that your word processor auto "corrects" from two plain ascii dashes )

"--" ( two plain ascii dashes )

Thanks so much!  Really appreciate this, and have fixed the dash/em dash issue - problem solved!

I am not sure if this would work for you, but you could make a free space page for the ancestor with the information you want to keep private.  Put the link to that page on the public profile, make the free space page itself Private so only the trusted list can view it. .

Thanks so much!  I decided to use the tags mentioned in the next comment, but will also explore free pages!

Thanks Roberta for asking this question!! I learn something new every day :)

I can put this to good use for placing Obituaries on my profiles without having to remove the living people portions!!
