Aaron Davis, born in Wales or not? Was his father really Uriah Davis?

This is my most annoying brickwall, probably because it's the family surname. So anyway, I've been able to pin down quite a few generations, back to roughly 1800.

Aaron P Davis was born between 1796 and 1799. There were a lot of Aaron Davis-es moving from Wales to the US at the time, and I even found a birth record of a "Ayren Davis" born at sea in 1799. I just can't say for sure if he was born in Wales, Pennsylvania or in between. I'm just not finding any records of his birth or his parents. It's even possible he was born at sea to Welsh parents who got him baptized immediately after stepping off the boat.

Who were his parents? FamilySearch says Uriah Davis and Reumah, but there are no cited Sources. They have dates, locations... no sources. Nothing I can pin down for sure, and I can't find their parents' names either. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any other Davis researchers know of anything?

I found all of the following on Ancestry or FamilySearch; some of this information may help you:

This is the reference for an "Aaron Davis" son of Uriah and Reemah, this is from a typewritten transcript and  the birthdates for the children in this record are transcribed incorrectly. This Aaron was probably born in 1792, not 1797:

"United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZ4N-6YR : 12 April 2016), Aaron P Davis, Moscow, Muscatine, Iowa, United States; citing family 19, NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).

Find-a-grave says Aaron was born in Wales, died and is buried in Washington County, Nebraska.

Aaron and Ruth are listed as the parents of James Davis on an 1888 marriage license issued in Washington, Nebraska.

There are numerous other tax and census records for "Aaron Davis" in Ohio between 1830 and 1850, but as you've noted it was a common name and it's difficult to know who was who.

As far as I can tell, that's all the same Aaron Davis. He married Ruth in Ohio, they had a few kids. Moved to Illinois for a few years where my fifth great grandfather Thomas George Davis was born. Then they moved to Nebraska and had their last few kids. Bits of the family kept together over the years and you can follow them through the census. There were three family farms, one in Arizona, NE (few miles east of Tekamah), and two west of Craig. Most all of the Davis's from Nebraska are buried in the Herman Cemetery.
