I was thinking that the individual named Oliver Oscar Olmstead was actually Oscar Oliver Olmstead.  One of his sons was Oscar Oliver Olmstead, Jr.  Just noticed it this morning and wondered if something had been found that someone changed his name.  Thanks!

I have seen several cases in the US where a person has interchanged his first and middle names (in census records, for example). I have also seen cases in the old Mexican Catholic Church records where a person with several given names has sometimes used another one of their several given names.

His name appears both as Olive Oscar and Oscar Oliver in records.

I have always kept him as Oscar Oliver in my records but I'm not the manager to change that on the profile. And the one "source" on the  WT profile really isn't a good one.

genealogytrails.com/ill/whiteside/familyolmstead.html( found through google) written by Ken Olmstead lists Oscar as the second son of Oliver.
