I am trying find birth information for a Henry Foulkes Deare who was born in Port Elizabeth I am filling in what I can as he was buried in Cobham, Surrey

His Parents were Henry Brutton Deare and Catherine S Unknown

I am hoping that someone can work back for me to join him to the bigger tree

Hello Steph, there are 85 references to Hemry B. Deare in the South Africa Archives site, item 46 is a death notice of 1894 (I see he died in 1893, Axbridge, Somerset district, UK, aged 66). The death notice should give wife's maiden name and perhaps the place of marriage (certainly from 1913, maybe before), and parents and children - you know these, NAtional Archives of South Africa, key in Deare, Henry B, the site URL doesn't want to be pasted here, sighs. MARRIED at St.Mary’s Church, Port Elizabeth on Tuesday the 18th Feb by the Rev F. McCleland AB, Henry Bruton DEARE Esq, youngest son of the late Lt-Colonel DEARE, 8th Hussars, to Catherine Sophia, only daughter of W.M. HARRIES Esq, Port Elizabeth.

"Mr. HARRIES’s health failed him some time ago, and he visited England with a view to taking medical advice. After remaining at Home some months, without deriving that benefit from the change that he expected, he returned to this colony, but on reaching Capetown was in so exhausted a state that his brother-in-law, Mr. Henry DEARE, was telegraphed for, urging him to go to Capetown at once if he wished to see his relative alive. Mr. DEARE went, and Mr. HARRIES rallied a little, so much[..] he died on Sunday last at the age of 48

The indexes are curious, it seems St Mary's Port Elizabeth, Anglican is the marriage church, also on www.southafricansettlers.com/?p=25196 is a good profile on Henry B. Deare, b. 1826 England, son of Col. Deare and Catharine Davies (I have Brutton and Davies in my family). Name of spouse Catharina Sophia Harries (date and place of marriage left blank, you have it now). Henry Brutton Deare date of death 31 March 1893, Weston Super Mare, age 67 (66 in FREEBMD indexes) - 4 children given including Henry F. Deare.
