Howdy, sorry but as an ald Texan, I just have to say something about that line that the Chishom Trail was named after Jesse Chishom.
Jesse Chisholm marked out a trail section in Oklahoma. The southern end of what was to become the trail began in southern Texas in the area around DeWitt County. The first cattle drive after the Civil War was in 1866 and was bossed by THORNTON CHISHOLM, who died on another drive up the trail a couple of years later.. So guess who the trail is known to be named after down here! Dagnab it!! (my Gabby Hayes impersonation, for those who know who Gabby was).
Seriously though, this is not an attempt to get everyone to change the story, Jesse Chisholm is widely accepted today. Just wanted to point out that there is another version of that story, no where near as well known. If anyone is interested in finding out a little about Thornton Chisholm, just google his name. Everyone in that part of Texas always knew TC as the namesake for the trail. Wasn't until the 1950s that I even heard about JC. But as all the old timers died off, modern historical revisions have taken over, not many of us remember the old stories.
My interest in this story? My great grandpa George Alexsander was on that first cattle drive in 1866, his daughter Emma was my grandma and was the defacto family historian. She told me all the stories when I was a young boy many decades ago.
And by the way, a very nicely done profile too, a credit to Wikitree!
edit: Occurs to me that Thornton might not have a profile here yet Guess I'll have to look into that.
