Whether you are for or against the police using relatives DNA to track suspects, it should make many feel at ease to post their DNA results.  What is already in the public isn't private any more.  If you can be tracked by your cousins who shared their DNA, might as well join the party and get the benefits from it.

Since there has been the scientific possibility to track down DNA in criminal cases, there have been mass profiling "events" when hundreds or thousands of people were called to give their DNA to find the criminal.

Yes, the police had taken also DNA of the suspect's family, but they were already suspicious about him, because he was obviously on the list of men who were obligated to give their DNA. And the Police had taken HIS DNA, so there was no "tree building" needed to find out he was the murderer.
