When uploading a gedcom there are lots of unknowns in the upload, how does this happen?

There are no unknowns in my original tree. This has happened in the last 3 gedcom uploads.

Looking at the raw data of your gedcom it seems there are a lot of profiles that do in fact have no name, in fact they contain only a gender and a family ID. Are there people missing from the gedcom that you thought should be in it? or are these extra people?

You could try opening the gedcom with a programme on your PC to see what relationships they have, i.e. which family they belong to. It could be they are remnants of profiles the were added and then deleted, but it is difficult to be sure without importing the gedcom somewhere to check it properly.

I only picked out the relevant people that I wanted as otherwise the gedcom becomes too big to import. The unknowns have only happened since I started to restrict the size so this could be the cause.
A parsing error can cause GEDCom upload profiles to be created with Unknown surnames.  When this occurs, the correct name is usually cited in the Biography.
