Trying to locate Mr John Reid Married to Emma Cadman

Question

Details: John Reid DOB A1815? Died supposedly in Qld Australia 13/03/1886 M Emma Cadam. Had three children Margaret Reid (1836-1934), Ellen/Helen Reid (1839-1918), John Reid (1840-?)

I Have an article from a news paper by John's Grandson ter Baines that suggests  ame ou to Australia from Scotland in te early 30's and was overer to Captin Rossi of Rossiville.

Any Help appreciated.

Hi David, I am also trying to find out information on Emma Cadman & John Reid, I am a decendant of Helen Emily Reid married John Baines.

I have a bit of info on John Reid,and am happy to share what I have. But Emma is proving hard to validate her correct name, birth and death.

I can't find evidence that Cadman is her correct name, no birth, marriage or Death cert, at this stage, the only thing I have her name on is her daughter Margaret's marriage cert, on her last two marriages it states mother Emma Cadman. Have you found her marriage cert to John? or her correct death certificate? assuming it was before 1866 when John remarried Jean Paton.

Love to heard how you got on or any help from other parties.

I am also a descendant of Ellen Reid, daughter of John Reid and Emma Cadman. They were never married but had 3 children, Margaret, Ellen and John Reid. These births were not registered. DNA links have recently shown that Walter Ambler Cadman is related to these 3 children. Walter was born to Emma Cadman about 1835. I can't find his birth record. In 1828 Emma married Robert Ambler at St Sepulchre in London. The banns state her to be a spinster with surname Cadman. It is unusual for her child to be named "Ambler Cadman". Can't say for sure if Robert Ambler was his father. Were there other children? Not sure about that either. We don't know whether Walter was born in England, on the way here or in Australia. Emma remains a shadowy figure.
