Where did the Brawners of maryland come from, England or another country?

My father is a Brawner.  He was born in Southern Maryland (James A.) and so was his father (Francis).  I'm looking at my family history, trying to find out about my ancestors.  I have taken a DNA test which gives a breakdown of my ancestry which is African American and European.  Any specific information on the Brawner family would be very helpful.  thank you

You might want to look at the link below both with Francis of the correct age in  1910 and 1920 census.  On is the son of James and Mennie Brawner, the other is son of John and Matilda.  Maybe you will recognize the names of some of his siblings and be able to determine which set of parents might be correct?

Are you male or female and what DNA service did you use? I am maintaining a Brawner Y-DNA database on FTDNA.com and would love for you to contribute if you are a male. It sounds like you have taken an autosomal DNA test such as the ones offered by ancestry, 23andme or FTDNA.com. By the way, the earliest Brawners appear in Maryland back in the mid 1600's and they reportedly came over from England on the Ark and the Dove with Lord Calvert but there is no documented proof of this yet. I can give you more information on your specific line with a little more information from you.
