WHY CAN'T I FIND ANY OF MY IRISH GRANDMA'S FAMILY

Question

Hi i'm finding it extremely difficult to find any records on my Nan's parents & siblings. All i have to go on is her name MARGARET O'ROURKE (married name CARROLL). Her family lived at 4 STANAWAY ROAD DUBLIN IRELAND & then moved to 68 SUNDRIVE ROAD DUBLIN IRELAND. MICHAEL or JOHN was her father's name and he worked on the Irish railway. Please help

This is most likely her. She married, lived, and died in Dublin South. It is highly unlikely that she was born in Country Kerry which is about as far away from Dublin as you can get and still be in Ireland.

The problem is that Irish records don’t seem to record parents. I guess you need to know what faith they be christened in and look at parish registers. At least you know she was born in county Kerry, oops just seen Debs post, looks like she has better understanding of Ireland.

Margaret O'Rourke of 40 Stanaway Road married Christopher Carroll of 1 Wellington Cottages on 26 December 1942.Esther O'Rourke and Cornelius Carroll were witnesses. Her Father was Michael O'Rourke and was deceased at the time of wedding. Her Father, a Railway Porter, died aged 63 years old November 1940. John O'Rourke was a witness at the death.

Since you have a date and place of death, I would suggest your best option would be to order her death certificate. With such recent events, it will be difficult to find records online that will be of great use.

I know where she lived with my Grandad and aunts & uncles which was 4 DERRY ROAD CRUMLIN.also i can't seem to find any information about my dad apart from what I already know, which was he is the only child of Margaret & Christopher Carroll to be born in Radcliffe Oxford

Nobody can find any records of O'Rourke's in Ireland.  Most were illiterate tenant farmers.  The Rourke's were banished to Clare when they would not denounce their Catholic faith.  I've stopped searching for them before the 1840's.  Many immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio during the famine & around the turn of the century.  But, yes, you have a recent ancestor so just order the copy.
