Looking for pedigree for my ggf Benjamin H Swain (b 1829?) first appearing in 1850 Census at Niagara Falls NY as a 20 yo (not 90) house painter. Married Elizabeth "Emma" Burnett, then lived in Puslinch near Hamilton Ontario Canada, where son (my gf) Chauncey L Swain was born (1856?). Between 1866 and 1868, moved back to Niagara County, NY and remained through 1892 NY census. May have been son of possibly Issac Swain, or Jacob Swain (of Niagara NY) and poss brother of William Alexander Swain who settled in Welland Ontario. Many dead ends!

Have recently joined WikiTree and added profile Swain-2442 for Benjamin and linked it to my extensive prior tree on Familysearch (MPKQ-JY7). This is a slow work in progress as I bring over other profiles.  Suspension Bridge was an village adjoining the then town of Niagara Falls, New York, and was merged into the town in 1892.

Does he have a profile?

This looks like him

"New York, County Marriages, 1847-1848; 1908-1936," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZ9F-B8C : 27 September 2017), Benjamin Swain in entry for Thomas Suitor and Florence Whitaker, 18 Sep 1923, Niagara, New York, United States; citing ref. ID , county clerk’s office,; FHL microfilm 897,562.

And this, which seems facinating that he lived in Suspension Bridge!

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZXZ-5PR : 8 September 2017), Bengain H Swain, Suspension Bridge, Niagara, New York, United States; citing enumeration district ED 186, sheet 209A, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 0900; FHL microfilm 1,254,900.

According to the 1875 census, everyone in his family was born in Niagara County, New York

"New York State Census, 1875," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VTZP-783 : 11 March 2018), Benj H Swain, Niagara, Niagara, New York, United States; citing p. 33, line 10, State Library, Albany; FHL microfilm 1,577,676.

His will is on Ancestry

https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=8800&h=1859288&tid=&pid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=DlN1398&_phstart=successSource

From looking at that image, you can find it on FamilySearch -- search catalog for Niagara County, New York to get to online New York probate records, pick Niagara county. He is on page 367-368 of Will book 48 or 49
Sorry, I should have mentioned I've added information on FamilySearch to Benjamin H Swain (MPKQ-JY7) and his read his will. Still stymied concerning exact birthplace, parents, pedigree, etc.
