If you have an ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War & you think is recognized by the Daughters Of The American Revolution (DAR), go to the following link. It is free & all you need to know is your ancestor's surname. And you can get your ancestor's DAR serial number.

http://services.dar.org/public/dar_researh/search/?Tab_ID=1

To highlight such an ancestor, I upload a stock Revolutionary War picture to the profile & make it the background picture. It really makes the background stand out. If anyone would like to use the picture I have, I would happily email it to them. I also have the DAR logo. Check out Nathaniel Venable (Venable-50) to see the effect.

Just thought everyone would like to know this.

The Dar Database is an exellent Resource for researching Revolutionary War Ancestors, but please remember the records are also submitted and need verifying. An example is:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fitz_Randolph-181

But the records Point to:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fitz_Randolph-177

Fitz Randolph-181 is the correct Revolutionary Ancestor not Fitz Randolph-177

OOOhh!  Good catch!

Based on birthdates and wives names, I moved the DAR Ancestor insignia from FitzRandolph-177 to FitzRandolph-181.

The SAR Patriot insignia appears to be correct for FitzRandolph-177.

Oh yikes!  Eric said, "The NSDAR Record actually belongs on Fitz Randolph-181. He was the one that was in the 1st Regiment Middlesex Milatia not 177. 177 would have been 77 years old, . . ."

I will change this back and let the folks that know more about this family work it out. Sorry about the confusion.

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fitz_Randolph-181 I put the DAR info back. Now, both the DAR and SAR records are listed.

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has asked that we not link to their proprietary information without prior written approval.  This includes:

  • the DAR insignia
  • the DAR logo
  • all DAR Ancestor numbers
  • their public database.

Please delete all references to this proprietary information from your WikiTree profiles and do not use the former DAR template.  Thank you.
