Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles [closed]

Question

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the list of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Will you join us?

Every time you record a status update it will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the Winner badge this week and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

So, for the past half hour, I have not been able to update status for profiles I have edited, the 'Status' page is not loading ? Anyone else having this problem ? I have been working all afternoon and evening  on profiles in 585, I have this issue on my desk top and my laptop.  I receive this error message: 

This site can’t be reached

wikitree.sdms.si took too long to respond.

Try:

• Checking the connection
• Checking the proxy and the firewall
• Running Windows Network Diagnostics

I adopted over 1,000 between September and October, and don't dare adopt anymore until I get these done.

Im doing 723 long process finding sources to be certain just come across one that is completly messy wrong birth surname  along with siblings so have to fix with sources before I can move on.

Having same issue again tonight, as I did last night, with 'Status' page not loading, I am working on profiles in 585, same as yesterday. I have continued to edit profiles, making note of them so  when 'Status' page decides to appear, I can go back and update 'Status' for profiles I have edited, did this  from last nights profiles this afternoon, when 'Staus' page co-operated for a short time.  Hope I can still get credit for all my work this evening.

Great job everyone!  I'm currently working on 603 USA too early in birth location.  (corrected and showing status as removed USA/United States too early)  Only 10,000 more to go!  lol

Yes, I've experienced the same problem a number of times.  The only thing that I can think of, that it could be is that after so many clicks and closings, the program needs to catch up.  When it happens to me, and it's happened a couple of times today, I close out the browser, refresh, then come back after a few minutes.  By then it's hopefully had time to catch up.  Or another thing you may try is to clear your cache, and/or cookies.  I hope that helps.  Good luck and thank you for your time editing profiles.

P.S.  I'm on a desktop working on orphaned profiles that need to be corrected and removed USA/United States in birth location - too early (prior to 1776)

Sometimes that happens while bouncing back and forth between Slovenia (wikitree+) and the US (WikiTree). It can also be complicated by the bot being run, spotty connections, and sometimes the server just decides to take a break until Aleš digs out the cattle prod and gets it moving again. :D
