To 'match' someone with Y-DNA is a fuzzy thing, as many Y-DNA results will match many thousands to many millions of other males.

Just to clarify - I assume you are talking about STR results, not SNP's or haplogroups?  Many of the yDNA haplogroups on WikiTree represent hundreds of millions of males (like the most popular one, R-M269).

And even with STR comparisons with 67 or higher markers, there can be dozens of matching males.  There may be few that have tested yet, so it may only *appear* to be very few or only one match.

Hello Rob,

If your first cousin once removed, Arnold Jacobson, had a son, and you matched 35 out of 37 markers (or closer) with that son then that match would confirm that each father/son relationship back to your most recent direct direct paternal line shared ancestor was accurate. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&person1_name=Jacobson-1250&person2_name=Jacobson-1522

It does not need to be more complicated than that.

Sincerely,

In the near future from WikiTree you should be able to see if you have a Y-DNA match in MitoYDNA.
