I am not sure which project is maintaining this profile but I think we have two John Williams in one profile.  One is the Revolutionary War Patriot, Col John Williams, and the other is Judge John Williams, lawyer and founding father of UNC Chapel Hill.  I added a Research notes section with reference to the sourcing.   It has a Special Improvements Project Category on it, too.

I take it this is the other one

Wikipedia thinks the bit about the state house of commons 1777-8 was yet another John

Unless there were two members with the same name.  Which happens when the name is John Williams.

Completely unsourced.  Apparently the Colonel is buried in Caswell County.

Now I'm wondering if there were two Colonels.

JD Lewis

thinks the Colonel's gravestone has the wrong DoD.  But he still thinks the Colonel's family founded Williamsboro.

The pension application was accused of being fraudulent.  Either that, or there was another Colonel buried in Kentucky in 1796.
