How good! Thank you.
I am not a good genealogist !!! However, I can muddle my way through. Other genealogists have helped me enormously. We are all still learning.
You know that you can put names on a watch list? So I shall add Miller, Harris and Clune and also Brunet, Ducasse, Jacquin and Bouvier in the hope of finding a match somewhere along the line.
I did not know that many Mauritians left Mauritius for South Africa in the early 20th century. That might explain some Dutch-sounding names that I've come across.
You are not the only one who finds Mauritian genealogy to be difficult. I know others who find the complexities very difficult. And I also have had the experience of getting a very close match, only to have the other side block me. It seems extremely unfair, even cruel, to do such things. This whole genealogy thing depends on each one playing their part - no man is an island!
I'm willing to share openly with you.
Best,
Christine
BTW where did you get the name 'Simone'? That is my mother's middle name.
