I have a long way to go before I get anywhere near merging all the profiles in my watchlist as they need to be merged. One place I haven't touched is the theoretical lines my sister linked to biblical genealogy. Now, I know this area is contested by many because sources are so scarce. Do I personally believe that I am descended from Adam and Eve? Yes. Do I think that I can actually prove this? No. I wouldn't even know where to start. I do know that many religions make it a priority to try to, though, and discounting the time they put into publishing those lines seems unfair.
Has anyone discussed how we want to approach this on wikitree? How do we approach surnames, one of the main ways of tracking lines? I do pretty well with more modern family lines, but those that get into ancient territory I find sticky, yet my need for tidiness makes me want to start cleaning them up a bit. Looking at Hebrew genealogy sites didn't get me too far, as they simply list those given names, with no indication of surnames until they were forced to start using them in more modern times. Even if the Adam and Eve connection is somewhat sketchy, we still have trackable lines for those with a Jewish heritage, through the lines of King David, which are better documented.
Thoughts? It seems like a discussion should be started on how to approach these profiles.
