Is John Oxbridge a Gateway ancestor?

Question

The profile narrative claims he descends from King Edward.

The PGM template wason him, but he technically did not migrate during the PGM period (1621-1640), so we're removing that project.

He's also been confused with another man, so for multiple reasons, he should remain project-protected.

Magna Carta, does he belong to you?

Yes, he would belong to the MCS project.  He does appear in Richardson's Royal Ancestry.

He is also one of the relatively few with an accepted descent from Edward III.

ps to Jillaine... you don't need to post these anymore (for Magna Carta Project to manage a Gateway Ancestor). David and I are working our way through the 240 Richardson-documented Gateway Ancestors that are within the scope of the Manga Carta Project to add the project as manager.

I've completed  my review of the project-less PPP error list (for colonial New England)  but you might see g2g posts from other Leaders reviewing the same error list for other parts of America.

For future reference (maybe this should have its own post?), the list of 240 that come under the Magna Carta project can be found here (found this through the Magna Carta project page):

Liz, can you please confirm for me and others if my following understanding is accurate?: If a project-less PPP profile with gateway claims on it isn't on the above list but still needs protecting, we need to find another project to co-manage it and work with others to resolve the gateway claims.

RJ also created a table of them that's posted on Category:Gateway Ancestors - that category includes the 240 listed by Richardson as well as a handful of others the project accepted into the category.

By the end of the week, I hope to have all of them managed by the project. So... generally, yes - if you find a profile of an immigrant ancestor that you think should belong to the Magna Carta Project but is not managed by the project, it will be because it is outside the scope of the project. Gateways not documented by Richardson would need to have primary proof for each parent/child relationship until reaching a profile that is in a trail documented by Richardson.

If you see a profile that is in the category Questionable Gateway Ancestors that needs to be protected, please post a G2G comment seeking a project, but please also tag Magna Carta. We've discontinued that subproject but are still working on clearing out that category (I've been updating those profiles with the results of the subproject's research when such was undertaken before deleting that category from the profile).

P.S. You say "...we need to find another project to co-manage it and work with others to resolve the gateway claims."  You would only need to find a project to manage it. The Magna Carta Project would not be a co-manager.
