Found another one of my favorite names on the category page for the Global Family Reunion Tree: Pond. This was my wife's grandmother's maiden name so, a-digging I went to find the connection. Bonus here is that I had not finished my wife's Pond line, so I got to add some profiles that I had meant to work on but hadn't gotten to yet. Now I have. This connects back to early colonist Daniel Pond of Dedham, Mass in the middle 1600's.
I'm going to start from Roxanna/Roxena Pond Claflin, who is 32 steps from AJ, according to her profile. I'm sure I could put together the full line to AJ, but it's 11 PM and I need to go to bed soon: Roxanna (Pond) Claflin > her father Benajah Pond > his father Hezekiah Pond > his father Ezra Pond > his father Robert Pond > his father Daniel Pond.
My wife's connection goes: Roxanna (Pond) Claflin > her father Benajah Pond > his father Hezekiah Pond > his brother Aaron Pond > his son Elbridge Gerry Pond > his son William H Pond > his daughter Hazel Irene Pond (my wife's grandmother).
There are actually two other connections back to Daniel Pond that I haven't completed yet: Benajah Pond's wife was also a pond, Mary Pond and she is four generations down from Daniel through another line, while Nancy Pond, who married another of the Claflins is four generations from Daniel.
More work to do!
