Is James Hill [Hill-6912]the father of Lucy Overton Hill?

Lucy Overton Hill [Hill-31142] was the daughter of a James Hill, who was an American Patriot during the American Revolution., but I don't know if the James Hill [Hill-6912] was that James Hill.  His birth year seems about right to have participated the revolution and fathered Lucy.  Lucy married her husband William Garvin in Amherst County, Virginia.  Any help would be appreciated.  James's biography is sparse, to say the least.

Is there any support that Hill-6912 is the son of the profiles he's attached to? A comment on his profile says it's doubtful that he is (based on locations). I did a spot check in the DAR database of William Hills born Virginia or the Carolinas early enough to be father of James and didn't find any with a son James listed. However, I did find one with a wife named Susannah Smithers. William [[Hill-25382]] has a transcription of his will (1778) that includes a son James, but the profile for his wife Susannah ([[Smithers-26]]*) shows a son James who "died young" "died in his youth". James Hill b 1758 who provided Patriotic Service according to DAR records died in 1831. Definitely not young.

update: sorry, misquoted her profile. James "died in his youth". Still, James died at 73 according to his DAR record, not "in his youth".

The DAR lists patriot #A055804, James Hill, b. 1758, d. 1831 Amherst County, VA, with a wife Anne and children James, Nancy, Lucy (married to William Garvin), Mary, Parmelia, and Tabitha, so it looks like he’s the correct man.  He’s in the DAR database for patriotic service, not military service.  There was a different James Hill who actually served in the military.

James has a duplicate profile with more into that seems to be more accurate - Hill-8118.  I proposed a merge

I added info on the children to Hill-6912 with a link to his DAR record.
Thanks, Kathie
