Join our Scan-a-ThonIn January we will have our first annual 72-hour scanning marathon, to parallel our fun and successful annual Source-a-Thons and Spring Clean-a-Thons.

Our mission: to scan and share all those old family photos and other items we've been meaning to get to!

The party starts Friday morning, January 11, at 8 AM (ET) and runs until Monday, January 14, at 8 AM (ET). (Eastern Standard Time is GMT -5.) We're encouraging genealogists from all over the world to participate at the same time.

Will you join us?

To register, just click the ANSWER button and say "Sign me up!" or whatever and include a few words about your location or genealogical interests.

If you're already part of a team from a previous challenge and want to stay on it, mention that. Not all teams are available for the Scan-a-Thon so you may not end up on the same one. The current teams are listed here. More may be added.

Please be sure to read the rules of participation. Thanks!

There will be a Mid-Atlantic Team for this event. Yea! So sign-up by answering the OP!

Feel free to let us know if you wish to join in your answer.

Whoever thought this one up oughta get a badge. What a great idea!

Why, thank you! laugh

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos or documents of my ancestors too contribute.

Great idea, Eowyn!

Legacy Heirs will be participating and would love to have you with us.

We are a group that works in our own way. If you like to forge ahead at full speed to get something on each profile, that is great. If you like to work on one and make it as loved and beautiful as possible before moving on, feel free and show that profile all the love you can. We do not care if you wish to work in one specific place or all over the world. One hour or most of the weekend is fine as long as you are not putting yourself or someone else in harms way. Just do it your way and lets all have fun.

Respect for eachother is a must, as is supportiveness, we are a wonderful team and amazing people.

Team Roses will be participating

Sounds interesting, but my time is so convulted right now that I can't promise anything. I have a hard time just to get on the site and do some work on my family. Thanks
Team Tornadoes is back again! So if you are living in, from or interested in the Midwestern US we are the team for you. Plus we always have loads of fun.
I'm in.  Never thought of it, but I have hundreds kof headstone pictures that I have taken for Find-A-Grave and Billiongraves let alone my own family pictures.

David, which team would you like to join? The Southern Super Sweepers has plenty of room if you don't mind being on a wild and crazy team. We are Fun!  wink

Hey, let me in, please! I haven't had time to work on much of anything for so long, January, 2019 sounds like a great time to take a break to WikiTree! I can't figure out which team most fits our family's diverse ancestry, tho'. No Irish Fighters, eh? Well, I'll choose the Sandringham Strollers if that's OK. Not just b/c we also have plenty enough English elders, but b/c I really think Gillian Thomas is swell! :)

I'm in  - Team Roses.

Pictures in my possession include:

Birchards, Treats, Atwoods, Humes, Clark, Hyde, Russo, in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Question:

What about our unknown pictures?
answered ago by s Davenport G2G6 (8.9k points)

Yay! Go Roses!smiley

I'm not sure what you mean by unknown pictures? You can always create a space page for photos, but my understanding is only photos put on profiles count for this challenge.

Thanks, S. I've added your badge.

Yes, you can upload unknown images! They should go on a free-space page and you should add as much information as you can about what you know so there's a hope that someone might be able to help you identify them someday.

Hi, I am part of the Kiwi Crew, and hope to contribute images in January.

My interests are primarily cemeteries, and I am in North Island of New Zealand. But I have a few family certificates and items that I can scan (or photograph) as well - I am just in the process of clearing out my step Dad's house as he moves to a retirement village. He doesn't have much in the way of photos at all, but there are a few documents that I thought I would add (death cert, marriage cert).  I found one interesting old family photo from India where he was born and raised, and someone has helpfully written on the back... so that will give me an incentive to add a few extra people as well.

i suppose I had better sign up  - plan to put in some stuff - not sure about what team yet
answered ago by Navarro Mariott G2G6 Mach 6 (60.1k points)
Hi Navarro, I see you have some Midwestern riots and live here too now. Perhaps you would like to join us over at Team Tornadoes?
Had always thought of myself as more of an earthquake girl really - but I guess now that have been here quite a while I could go with the Tornadoes - yes!
I would rather face a tornado than an earthquake any day. I can handle blizzards and tornadoes but earthquakes and hurricanes scare me. Also Welcome to the team!
Born and raised in Northern California - but have been in the midwest for about 23 years o I can go with the flow - glad to be a part of the team
Thanks, Navarro. I've added your badge.

Sign me up!    My family are all Boston Irish, so I bet the Nor'Easters would be a good team?   Please use your favorite choice to place me. I am new to this.   I have a lot of pictures scanned, but I'd like to scan a few more AND MAINLY properly file all these in dropbox and link to Evidentia so I can start sharing them in a thoughtful and useful way!
