What would be the best way to find out if an ancestor was a child born out of wedlock?

I'm looking for ancestors of my grandfather who called himself Marion David Blount.  1889-1933 .The first time he appears in any documents that I can find is in NC in 1921 in a Marriage License to my grandmother Cora Lee Thompson-1902-1996. the license says he was born in GA along with his father, H. P. Blount and mother, Sarah Blount, At least 4 of my DNA matches lead to the Blount family of Harry Percy Blount, but he was not married to a Sarah. Could he be an out of wedlock child that took his father's surname in 1921? What's the best way to find out?

Marion David Blount was born 1889, His father, Harry Percy Blount married Sallie Rosser 23 March 1884 in Mariwether, GA.

Thanks for you answer. I found the marriage license of Henry Blount and Sallie Prosser, but I have no way to connect them to my grandfather Marion David. Also my DNA matches point to the family of Harry Percy Blount son of John T and Louisa Mumford Kilpatrick. Any more suggestions?

The Harry Percy in question married Loula Holt in 1881 in Alabama.

I'd look around for clues in the 1900 census. Check out this guy for example.

Marion David was 32 born 1889, Cora was 19 born est. 1902

His parents wee H. P. Blount and Sarah Blount

Her parents were Joe Thompson and Flora Thompson
