Category: Kingston upon Hull - location category question

Am I correct in assuming that Marfleet in the modern age no longer exists (see Wikipedia Marfleet ) and is simply regarded as being part of Kingston Upon Hull? If so, should I be putting my ancestors into that category, since they were born in Marfleet and no such town or village exists on Wikitree.

Hi Raewyn,

The England Project categorises using the 39 historic counties and the place name from the time the record was created in the hope of keeping things as simple and useful as possible. I've gone ahead and created the [[Category: Marfleet, Yorkshire]] for you which you are more than welcome to use.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions and you'd be more than welcome to join the project if you'd like to work with us.

Susie :-)

Thank you Suzie.
I have a few people that belong there!

I have joined the UK project but I haven't quite figured out everything yet. If you need help on anything, let me know. I have added a VERY VERY (three lines I think) brief bio of the area).
Thanks again!

Hi again!

England operates as a project on it's own, with its own badge and Google Group. The United Kingdom Project is more of an umbrella project, if that makes sense. You can see what we're working on here and if you do decide to join us, the sign-up post is here. We have a very active Yorkshire Team, among others, and there's always someone on hand to help you out if you need it.

Susie :-)

Thanks for clarifying Susie. Yes, I would like to join. I have an interest in England. I studied briefly, English history at university. (Early medieval period - Viking age) and have been interested in a few periods of England. I have a book I acquired a while ago on old place names and what they are now - it's a global one. May be useful, even if we do have the Internet.
Excellent! I see you're in Gilly's capable hands and she'll then introduce you to Fran and Lizzie. Welcome to England! :-)
Thanks, Susie.
