Is it difficult to research ancestor who have immigrated from Canada to the United States?
in Genealogy Help by Donna Whittier G2G Rookie (230 points)
My paternal great grandparents immigrated to Erie County, PA USA from Simcoe County, Ontario in the 1860's. There has been no impediment to finding US Census records in 1870, 1880 and so on. Most of the 1890 US Census was destroyed in a fire, but other than that, no problem.
Thank you so much for your answer. I thought it would be hard because while researching on another site, I thought I had heard certain years of census records were not easily found compared to USA documents.

Yes, this is my Grandfather Caleb Henry Peart. I had not found this document up until now. Thank you so much! I had a little difficulty opening it at first and seeing all the info on my smart phone. In the future, I think I should use my laptop. You are a great help! And so fast!
Hello Donna,

I found a James George Wallace born 25 Apr 1881 at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Is this your James Wallace?

He married Helen May Hayes 9 May 1906 in Danvers, Massachusetts.
Hi Frank Gill

Sorry, I am new at this site.

I had written a comment under your other link for My Great-gandfather, Caleb Henry Peart.  Both links were very helpful! I am now downloading the copies of both documents.

Yes this is my Grandfather, James Wallace Peart.
Hi Frank Gill,

There is not the surname: Peart

I don't believe there would be a relation.

My father, Arthur Ranford Peart told me his last name, Peart, may have had a different spelling years ago and that Caleb Henry was "native american". Not sure how this will affect my research. I think he said it may have been Pearth or ended in an "h" that was at some point removed.
