Best way to correct an incorrect spouse surname

I have been tidying up the STUTTARD branches in my family.

Arthur Stuttard married Clara LUND in 1898. However, the PM has listed her surname as HURST. I sent a message to the PM back in April 2017 to ask her to update the LNAB, but she has not been active since Dec 2015.

I have found details for a Clara HURST. So I am proposing to disconnect the current spouse Clara HURST & add sources, etc to that profile, then create a new profile for the correct spouse Clara LUND.

Is this the best way forward ? I have updated Arthur's profile with the relevant sources.

I think you are proposing to recycle the Clara Hurst profile into a different Clara Hurst?  That is not recommended, because the Clara Hurst profile will have all new facts and sources, but a history belonging to someone else.  Better to go through the process to get the LNAB changed.  You have to do an Unresponsive Manager form to get the profile orphaned.  Then you can adopt it and fix the LNAB.

Greg Slade explained about why not to recycle here.

Excellent Answer Herbert. I would concur with your evaluation.

Vivian some wikitree members have difficulty finding the Unresponsive Profile Manager Request form. So I will be posting it here for your benefit. There is a couple prerequisite before you can file one you can see what they're by clicking the Link below.

Unresponsive Profile Manager Request Form

Thanks for the advice. I will go ahead with the Unresponsive PM request.
Herbert, it sounds to me like Vivian's plan is excellent - not at all in the nature of recycling Clara Hurst, merely disconnecting her as the spouse plus improving her profile with sources.  Someday someone will come along and find her here and be able to connect to her.  I do agree with the suggestion to follow the Unresponsive Profile Manager process, though.  At the very least, it will include the attempt to inform the manager what Vivian is going to be doing.
It depends on whether the Clara profile was the right person with the wrong name, or the wrong person.  I think Vivian meant the former, but it was a little unclear in the question.
Sounds like we need some clarification from Vivian.  My impression was that she meant that Clara Hurst was the wrong person, but that she found sources to document exactly who Clara Hurst was, while at the same time she found the right person, also with sources.
The profile for Clara Hurst [Hurst-920] has no sources. Just that she was listed as the wife of Arthur Stuttard. I have no idea where these details came from, but I have found several errors in this line.

The only entries on the changes tab are the original GEDCOM import & when I removed an incorrect child.
