Does anyone know why the surname Grobbelaar was changed to Grobler.

My 3x great grandfather was Grobbelaar-164 and my 2x great grandfather, his son was Grobler-778.

My problem is that the name changed in the baptism records

of the Dutch Reformed Church, where the Dominees were educated people.
David where are you seeing the spelling change in a baptism?  For who? the child or father?  Could you help me out a little there David?
