Other wife of Guillaume Blanchard

Does anyone have any more information on a possible second wife of Guillaume Blanchard. I am separately descended from each of the his two children listed, Marie Blanchard-145 and Jean Blanchard-4550.  I had thought they were brother and sister. They have the same father, but Jean's mother is unknown. I had thought they shared both parents.

Hi,

It has been a while but reading the posts I understand what happened,

Jean Blanchard (this is the duplicate for him and he is the father of Guillaume)  was born in about 1611 in France. His parents are not known. He is often listed with parents named Guillaume Blanchard and Huguette Poirier, but this is actually false; it is the result of confusion with Jean's son, Guillaume Blanchard, and his wife Huguette Gougeon.(See discussion here.

To correct things we wanted to merge the wrong (ancestor) Guillaume and his wife, so the ones  with the earlier dates into the later (correct ones..so his (Jean's) son and the duplicate wifes also should be merged...but now someone has created and attached a new set of parents and grandparents to the duplicate, (it looks like the names all were repeated and only the years of Birth and death were changed),so it looks even more complicated and confusing now…but to correct things we now have to diconnect some from eachother and merge them all into the 'duplicate' ones with the lowest number, the correct ones are the ones with the later dates..

If you all are ok with it I can help to get things corrected ?

Hello Bea: Yes, thank you. Please do what you can to sort it out.

Thanks, again, Jim

Hi again,

Corrected things so far, but there were several new  'false' ancestors (in fact duplicates for the later generations) created/added that still need to be merged I guess, or..since they are added/created over and over again, perhaps we could just leave things as they are now, they no longer are connected to Jean Blanchard..but they are mentioned in the Bio's for all of the profiles involved now.

I added a content false parentage with name links to the Bio of all the profiles involved and have set all the in fact just duplicates as unmerged matches for now (the ancestors all are the same as the later generations only difference is the dates and some places of Birth) and added some posts that hopefully explain things a bit..

So this is how things are now..

Jean Blanchard was born in about 1611 in France. His parents are not known. He is often listed with parents named Guillaume Blanchard and Huguette Poirier, but this is actually false; it is the result of confusion with Jean's son, Guillaume Blanchard, and his wife Huguette Gougeon (aka Poirier) .(See discussion here.)

Hope it helps and have a wonderful day !

Bea :)

So to explain it a bit more...this (see below) is how this lineage looks including the false parents attached to Jean Blanchard (b 1611)  (the parents attached to him were in fact not his parents but  they were his son Guillaume Blanchard and his wife, Jean's  daughter-in-law, Huguette Gougon (aka Poirier) and her parents !

Guillaume Blanchard and his wife Huguette Poirier were married in 1610 in Martaize, France, she was born in 1590 in LaChausse. They were the first Blanchards in Acadia, now Nova Scotia, who arrived in 1640 from france. With them was their son Jehan or Jean and a daughter Marie, and Marie's husband Jerome Guerin. Jehan was born in 1611 in Martaize. Jehan or Jean married in Port Royal, Acadia in 1642 to Radegonde Lambert.

And this is how it should look like with the error (false parents) corrected:

Guillaume Blanchard , born 1651, was the son of Jean Blanchard and Radegonde Lambert. Guillaume married Huguette Gougeon (her stepfather or first husband of her mother was a Poirier so her halfsiblings were named Poirier, which is why she is seen a lot with the last name Poirier ), born 1657 and died October 18, 1717 in Port Royal, Acadia ( Nova Scotia ).

So we have it 'corrected', but we still (or again) have the (now seperated from Jean) false (in fact duplicates), and they all are set as unmerged matches now..

There are 2 profiles for Guillaume Blanchard.  Reading both profiles, there has already been one merge rejected - have removed that and initiated another merge.  If you check the original profile Blanchard-173 it names both his parents, only one wife and shows more children so that may match with what you were asking.

Guillaume Blanchard-173 CANNOT be the same person as Guillaume Blanchard-2396. Their estimated births are about 61 years apart. One born in Acadia and the other in France.
Jim might be good idea to reject that merge!
I saw that Jim - also saw one profile well sourced (Project Protected) and the other seems not to be.  The later profile also has him born and dying in France (no sources) although the biography states he was the first Blanchard in Acadia - no mention of him leaving?  I'm new to this but it seems worth while digging deeper especially if there is some confusion on who the original Blanchard to Acadia was.
Guillaume Blanchard-173 is Project Protected so I am sure the project leaders will look after this. Thanks, Jim
Jim, the date difference is a problem and the reason why this discussion takes place; but it's sadly frequent, in Québécois and Acadian genealogies, to see later descendants duplicated to become wishful earlier ancestors. The earlier Guillaume and his wife look like duplications of thoir "grandson" and his wife.

Hello all and thanks for letting the Acadian Project know of these issues. We were not aware until Bea kindly let me know. I have contacted the two people listed as project managers to see if they can work on it. Let's give them a week or so to respond please.

My pleasure Jacqueline, they all are set as unmerged matches now and there also is a post added to all profiles with a link to this G2G, so everyone interested can find it now and respond or help, we can wait a while.  :)
