I had a message on my Ancestry account from woman in Maine.  She explained that her mother had recently died and a friend of hers had gone with her to the funeral.  They went through some of her mother's old pictures as she and her friend are both into ancestry.

They came across a picture that was dated 1940 with the name on the back of Ralph Gordon Chadbourne and something about my boyfriend.  When they got home they checked Ancestry and found that I had Ralph on Ancestry.  So they contacted me!

Ralph married one of my mother-in laws sisters, Carol Chadbourne died a few years ago and Ralph was killed in WWII, but they have a daughter.  The woman is going to send me a copy of the photo, which should make Ralph in about the eighth grade!!!

I just know it will make an awesome Christmas present for his daughter and granddaughter!  Sort of like her father saying I'm still here for you.

How cool is that!!!

Taylor, this is just great! I love these kinds of stories, about people connecting and the finding of treasures.

Thanks for the star, Pip. I love these stories too.
I finally had a family member send me Ralph's daughters email address.  I had lost it when my facebook account was stolen last year.  The woman on Ancestry sent me two more messages she found numerous letters between Ralph and her mother when she is going to email me.  Her mother had never mentioned this when she was living.  Though her father had told the children that he had been briefly married before he met and married their mother.

I am soooo excited as you never know what will turn up especially when a genealogist is looking thru things!!

Thanks to everyone for sharing my joy!

Taylor

P.S. She will be emailing them to me in a few days

Very cool indeed ! So many photos are unlabelled - it is wonderful that this had the date, name and "my boyfriend" written on it. Top marks to you too for having your mother-in-law's sisters on the tree.
