Shared Photo: Ferraiolo family arrival in America

Question

A few days ago I posted an image of my great-grandfather in a World War I era uniform. Today, I bring you another gem from my great-aunt's collection! This picture is of my great-grandparents, Vincenzo Ferraiolo and Maria Tedesco.  The child on the left is my grandfather, Marco and the other child is my great-aunt. 

I'm thinking of editing the picture a bit using Paint. I'm not sure if it's really necessary. The quality isn't TOO awful. What do you think? I did a test run where I converted it to black and white and blurred things a bit. It looks a little better. Not the greatest. It was still worth a shot. =) How do you like the pic?

Well dressed and expressive also, most family photos of this era, everyone looks stiff & posed, they look natural.  Photo is quite good as is.

Chris - another wonderful gem of a picture - I like the photo the way it is now.  Is this before or after your editing?  Not sure that i would do anything further to it.

As to the photo itself, it is very beautiful.  A gorgeous family, you can see the pride in your Great-Grandparents, and all so magnificently groomed and dressed.

Before. I haven't edited in any way. Well, that's not true. My dad's cousin e-mailed it to me upside down. I had to reverse it. =) That's the extent of my editing. I suppose I'll leave it as is.

Thanks for the kind words! I first saw this pic back in 2004 when I visited my great-aunt.

I am having fun. And...I have the entire soundtrack of Coco in my head.

I think I would let the photo just as it is, and not try to edit it. Great looking family Chris.

Chris, IMHO an older photo is always better the way it is. when a picture is faded, discolored, creased or torn it is given character of it's own. It is beautiful that way. But there can be a time where doctoring a photo may be necessary. What I do is make a copy and doctor the copy. That way you will keep the integrity and beauty of the old picture and still also have a sharper looking photo at the same time

I was thinking the same thing. I can make many copies in paint.net and just edit stuff. I was thinking of taking a copy, adding a layer and drawing a version of it on the comp. That would be cool. Problem is I don't know what colors I'd made everyone's clothes. Ah well.

It's gonna stay as is. The pics are in decent shape. Always good to have stuff stored properly. Comics, old pics etc.

What a fantastic photo of your great grandparents they are looking wonderful, and the children are cute, so your grandchild to the left are your granddad and the lovely girl are your great aunt.
