Your Navigation Home Page is private

It has just struck me that a Navigation Home page is not only a convenient place to put to-do lists, cross-references etc, it is also invisible to others, since the URL is the same for everyone. So you don't need to hide your really private information with a red Privacy lock, just put it on your Navigation Home page instead of on your profile.

I never knew this. How did you discover this? I couldn’t figure out how to check this out.
I just noticed that my WikiTree ID is nowhere in the URL. It's just https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Home If you open that link, you will get to your own navigation page, not to mine.

The other way of getting to a profile's data is from the dropdown menu for the profile you are on. There's a lot of stuff on it, but Nav Home Page is not among them.

You can find all these settings via: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Settings however by default it's set to Navigation Home Page

However, the scratch pad has no change log or history to recover it from.
The scratchpad also supports only a limited markup language. E.g. no headings, they are translated to bold etc.
Dirk, I only use the scratch pad for link to WT pages I need to see often, like my free-space page or the Greeters main page, etc. That way I don’t have to go hunting through the helps pages! And... I don’t have to crowd my browser’s bookmarks.
I've started using it for stuff that I had to take off my public pages because of the new privacy rules. That third marriage of Jemima Puddleduck to Big Bad Wolf who unfortunately is still living ... the details are now at the bottom of my scratchpad.
Wow! Thanks, Dirk! I've always just glossed over this page. I had no idea it could be modified and be such a powerful resource.

I've learned something for the day. Guess I can go back to bed now. LOL
