I would love to receive any additional family information on this family.  The information for his birth is in a Family Bible.  It would be nice to find a copy of his birth certificate/registration if is available. I wanted to share this family photo of Schuyler Weeks with the community. Location: Wellington, Lorain, Ohio, United States. Date: 1867.

Judith, when I saw the top of the pic as I scrolled down, my first thought was, “Civil War vet.” Schuyler has that look. Any idea if he served?

Wow - what a wonderful picture.  He looks like he was a very big man and possibly close to if not 6 feet tall.  Did he play the guitar?  What a handsome fellow !

Good luck on your search for more information on Schuyler Weeks,  also  post to G2G Genealogy Help we have some great researchers here.

Good Morning,

Thank-you for your kind comments and your questions.  Schuyler did not serve in the Civil War.  All accounts of him portray him as a very gentle and kind man.  All five of his sons were also known for their sweet gentle dispositions.

Schuyler's father, German Weeks, was a Quaker until he fell in love with Jane S. (Thompson).  He 'married out' and he and Jane very shortly started their new life in Ohio.  Schuyler did have two younger brothers that served in the Civil War and both survived to a fairly old age.  I will be posting information on them soon.

Judith
As far as I know Schuyler did not play any musical instruments.  What a great question.  I do know that all of their sons loved to sing and had musical talent.  His grandchildren recall that several of their sons loved to recite long poems and sing Scottish ditties.

Sincerely,

Judith
