I would love to have any additional information on the Beattie family during this period.  Emmeline Ann (Beattie) Weeks was the only child of George Beattie and Nancy Jane (Bumpus) Beattie.

I wanted to share this family photo of Emily Weeks with the community. Location: Ohio, United States. Date: 1867.

What a lovely lady and dress. You think she had blue eyes? Of course, it’s hard to tell in these old photos, but her eyes do look very light.

I mentioned in my last comment that I do believe that Emily had blue eyes.  She had a penchant for poetry that was passed down to her sons and grandchildren.  She and Schuyler were deeply in love it seems and she died way too young.

Sincerely,

Judith

Judith - you have some pretty amazing photos and I can see where you would love to put story to face.  This one of Emily is  beautiful.  I personally love the sepia over the black and white and this one does her beautiful justice.  Thank you for sharing.

Thank-you for your comment.  It is very possible that she had blue eyes.  They seemed to run in the family.  She was a lovely woman but considered very prim and proper by other family members.  She raised five strapping sons who were very courtly in their attitudes and actions.  One of their sons, Orlando, became a minister.

Sincerely,

Judith
