Advice before adding father of this pre-1700 Brainerd profile?

I can add a father to the profile of Susannah (Brainerd) Olmstead. This is who I can add:

  • Daniel Brainerd Jr.

These are the sources I am using:CT Town Death Records, Barbour Collection, North America, Family Histories, New England HIstorical and Genealogical Register, US and International Marriage Records

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

I suggested a match between Brainers-292 and Brainerd-504 so now both managers should accept the merge then there will not be a duplicate in this instance. Feel free to accept if you think that both are a match.
Do we both agree on the merge of Daniel Brainerd?

There are now 2 Susannah (Brainerd) Olmsteads

Brainerd-504 and Brainerd-292 will need to be merged as they both appear as married to John Olmsted.

As you have just created the 504 one, it would appear that you Might need to familiarise yourself with the process. When adding a new profile you will get a list of possible duplicates come up on the page. You need to look them over and see if any match the person you are trying to create. If there is, stop and follow the advice, or come here and ask for assistance.

It does take a bit of time to get used the ways here, but there is always willing helpers.

Thank you for commenting

There were no names that came up when I entered my info for Brainerd to compare with. I have done the comparison with other names that did come in as possibilities. Also Susannah Olmstead. Some have her name with  Olmsted and others with an a Olmstead.
Sometimes more pop up after you start putting the rest of the info in, bit of a pain, but, hey, computers will work their own way!

Joan, you can join the pre 1700 yourself and go ahead and just do the best that you can.  You have good sources. Do it yourself if you can. If you need help just ask. Most members generally love to help others. It is ok  if you make a mistake. Someone will help.

All that is required is:

That you sign the oath,

Participate for one week

Make 50 contributions and

Take the self certification quiz.

I think I did this signature and have taken the self certification, but have forgotten what to do to bypass the request to stop and ask before adding new I formation
Now you are Certified you can just go ahead, the header will always be there.
