The scan-a-thon total broke over a thousand in the first 3 hours!! Everyone is doing so well. This shows ever single addition adds up.
Lots of good links are at:https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/747388/do-you-have-scan-a-thon-questions, you can also ask any questions there if I am not around. Check it out. Remember the chats, the last one started at this hour so the next is in about 2 1/2 hours. Join us, it is fun and Mags and Eowyn are losing it already so the rest of the weekend is going to be loads of fun!!
This coming Friday, January 11, at 8 AM eastern (7, 6 and 5 AM pacific, as come across the US) and runs until Monday, January 14, at 8 AM eastern. (Eastern Standard Time is GMT -5.) Everyone starts at the same moment all around the world at their own time that is at that exact moment.
When you are able to start after the above times. You will find the profile you want to add photos, pictures of records, letters, etc... to. (Unlike the source-a-thon, it counts when doing a new profile also, so you can add a new profile and then start the process)
Each item should only be entered 1 time. If there are others the item counts for, after you submit you can go back to that one and edit it. You can then add information and enter the other profile numbers for that piece. However if you want part of that photo for their profile photo, you can crop it to seperate each person and inter that for the person in the photo and in edit, mark you want it to be the main profile one.
When you are on the profile, you click the link that says to click to upload images. (The images only work for open and public files. You can add to any profiles but the count will only be on those two sections.)
You will then do step 1 by clicking on the "choose file" to locate the file for download. (Make sure to keep copyright laws in mind please)
Click on the image you want to add and then on the open button that is now lit up at the bottom of the pop up box. That will put the photo info in.
Next, under the # 2 there is a box where you put where it came from. (examples: personal photo from reunion, letter written to me by ..., ticket to play ... was in, etc)
The info under section 3 can be filled in now or at a later time. It is up to you if you want to fill it in or not.
Then submit your image and information you have put in to the form.
When you click the submit, it will automatically count your submission. You will not need to click anything else like other thons.
MOST IMPORTANT: have fun and enjoy the experience. Even if you only count one because you were beautifying the tree in other ways, or like some members usually do, over a thousand during the weekend, I am so very thankful for you and appreciate that you have made the tree more beautiful and healthy.
The chats are a great way to keep in the fun! It is a place to talk to the other teams, and see the updates for team totals, and total done in the thon at that point. On top of this, it is where you find out if you or someone on your team wins a prize. Google Calendar - Week of January 6, 2019 is the link. go there and add the calendar to your google calendars.
Should someone miss their name we will post the name on here if they are in our team. You will have until the next chat to go and accept your prize.

We are a group that works in our own way. If you like to forge ahead at full speed to get something on each profile, that is great. If you like to work on one and make it as loved and beautiful as possible before moving on, feel free and show that profile all the love you can. We do not care if you wish to work in one specific place or all over the world. One hour or most of the weekend is fine as long as you are not putting yourself or someone else in harms way. Just do it your way and lets all have fun.
Respect for eachother is a must, as is supportiveness, we are a wonderful team and amazing people.
I want you all to know I appreciate each of you and am very excited to "work" with you all to scan and adorn the tree with history and photos!
I am so very happy to have you all with me. I have always loved photos and the history they provide us with. They go hand in hand with genealogy to show us how those ancestors were and how they lived. It also helps that one of my kiddos is a professional photographer.
Lets's have fun and show the world who our family is/was!

Go to https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/749551/will-you-share-a-scanning-selfie. and share a photo of you! It can also be shared on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you are using one of these 3, make sure to put a #wikitree on the photo post. Joining in with this will enter you for a chance to win a scan-a-thon t-shirt or mug. Drawing for this will be at the 2 pm eastern hang out.
