Glen, you have a <REF> tag at the end of what is displayed on the view pages. First, that is not correct - it should be lower case (<ref>). That tag indicates the start of a citation and will normally put a footnote number where it occurs and then the citation (which is everything between the <ref> start tag and the </ref> end tag) will be displayed wherever the <references /> tag is placed. You do have that tag but it is in between the start and end <ref> … </ref> tags, so it doesn't do anything.
I recommend, for starters, that you remove the <REF> and </ref> tags. That should display everything. Then, if you want to add footnotes for source citations, you can do that but make sure to use a start tag of <ref> and end tag of </ref> to enclose each citation. Leave the <references /> tag alone - it is correctly placed to display the citations if you later enter any.
