Thomas J. Fowler is born 1842 according to an 1860 Madison County,Alabama Census he is 18. In the home of Joseph B. Fowler (aged 32 or 52, which makes me unsure of his birth year) who list him as his son.  Thomas was born in Kentucky, i don't know the county. On the 1860 Census it list Emeline born 1847 (b. Alabama?), Ellen b. 1849 Tennessee, Isabeller/ Isabelle b. 1852 (Alabama?) all as children to Joseph Fowler. Joseph shows his age at 52 born in Virginia.. Living next door to McKinney's/McKiney..

Household    Role    Gender    Age    Birthplace
Joseph B Fowler        M    52    Virginia
Thos Fowler        M    18    Kentucky
Emiline Fowler        F    13    Ala
Ellen Fowler        F    10    Ala  **( All info I've found on her list Tennessee as birth place)
Isabeler Fowler        F    8    Ala

On a 1840 Green County, Kentucky Census, list a Joseph B Fowler being the male of the age of  30 under 40:
2 Females under 5 year of age
2 Females 5 & under 10
2 Females 10 & under 15
and an Adult Female 20 & under 30
This could be my Joseph with a wife that already has children living in the home as well as Josephs 1/2 daughters.

The only child of Joseph I've been able to Chase down is Ellen Fowler(1849-1926) that married Elisha Tolbert (one of my grandfathers). Have never been able to put a mother's name to any children or a wife to Joseph, nor spouses or children to the remaining children. . Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I've been searching for about 2 hours. Found same information you did. I did find this Joseph Fowler married Jinsey Gray sept. 8 1825 in Caldwell, Kentuckey but no children or parents listed. Since Joseph was born abt 1808 according to 1860 census, this would be a good marriage year.

I started thinking that it's possible Mom was Indian. If she was never baptized they probably wouldn't list her on the census. I came across a Fowler Family page, no Joseph, but there was a lot of references to marriages with Indians. I know when a parent is an Indian and not baptized, they write mother/father/unknown like they don't exist.

I will continue to search
