Join request for the Merritt project. I've got quite a few Merritts posted. Line spans from colonial Virginia starting right after Jamestown with hints of London origin. DNA available. My research is centric to Essex and Amherst/Bedford County Virginia Merritts and their dna, with lines in Kentucky, post civil war Florida, and some 1600s people in NC starting with Charles Merritt.

just wondering if you came across any Mariotts in there
In the 1690s, this family tended to use all the varitions of Merritt, Marriot, and Merrick. Once all in the same record. Took most of the 1700s to settle out on first Merrit, then Merritt. The guy I am looking at as the next connection back is in fact a Marriot, Major William Marriot.
I had an Uncle named Major Mariott - he was never a Major - that was his name - named after his mom's doctor - met him a few times and his daughters a couple times - died in the nineties I am pretty sure

Hi

Did you want to join the Merritt One Name Study?  Probably a good thing if you send a message to its leader, Kristin Merritt.
