Hi Everyone.
Do you like meeting new people?
Do you like helping people?
You do?
Great! Well, how do you fancy joining the greeting gang? We are WikiTree's starting point. We send out a welcome message to new members, and a confirmation message once they have volunteered.
It does come with a health warning: it can be addictive.
You will be trained by one of the greeters at a time convenient to you. You can have more than one training session if you wish.
Now the rule part. Sorry, but we have to have some rules:
- you need to be over 18
- you need to be a member for 30 days and have at least 100 contributions which are non-GEDCOM
- you need to be fairly computer friendly, be able to edit profiles, post messages, and use email
- you need to follow the honour code when communicating with new members.
I am sure you are all able to do this, but we have to ask.
The fun part is, you meet new people, and some of them can become great friends. The greeter gang is fun, and extremely helpful when you have had a question you are unsure about, so it can be a great way of learning new things.
We have a schedule of greeting times, so you can pick from empty slots or just jump in during open times - yes it does make it sound like a shop :-)
Courtesy is a must, and a sense of humour is optional, but it helps. We have a google group so you can post messages there if you are uncertain about confirming someone or you have been asked a question you don’t know the answer to.
If you are interested please leave an answer on here or send me a private message.
