Advice before editing this pre-1700 Non Connu profile?

This orphaned profile of Julien (Non Connu) Unknown should have the LNAB modified to Unknown. There is a source image on the profile but there is no source on the image. The person is said to have died  in Paroisse Notre Dame, Québec, Québec.

Is this a profile that the Quebecois Project would adopt and manage?

That is work done by cousin Robert Blais originally, and the image on the profile is the Drouin record of funeral.  He will remain unconnected as far as I can see, but Unknown is English, and he was obviously French.  laugh  Do we have an alternate in Francophone portal yet for such?  I'll see what I can find about him in various sources to maybe flesh him out a bit.

can't find more than his funeral, he doesn't appear in any other records here that I can see.  Filled in the funeral data on him and adopted him for now.

Thanks for explaining what the Drouin record was, Danielle. There has been several G2G threads regarding using other languages for Unknown but never a proposal to change the Guideline. To stay within the guidelines for now, it should be Unkown.

G2G threads:

There is a footnote on the first point in Special rules for required fields which explains the reasoning:
"Using the same convention for unknown last names is important. In the long run, this clarifies things for everyone. It groups these profiles together in various alphabetical sorts. And we can program our systems to ignore profiles named Unknown in certain contexts."

ok, will change LNAB to Unknown and put Inconnu in current last name, which is the French term, then all bases are covered.  laugh  If somebody can enter a gazillion Inconnue de Montaguère in our tree, then this one won't be so bad.  wink  (Ask Isabelle about the above lady.)

comes out oddly, Inconnu formerly [last name at birth?] is it supposed to do this?

Yes, that's what the program does when it sees Unknown as the LNAB. It's a prompt to help people know that this data is needed.
lol, still looking, but if as I suspect he was hired on contract, may be very difficult to determine who he is.
Got him!  Julien Le Noble, from Blainville, Normandie.
Wow! you are really a star, Danielle! (une championne!)
I'll second that Wow! Thanks for your diligence on this formerly Unknown, Daniel. Thank you for bringing Julian back in to our collective memories!
had some help from a professional at the other end there, who kindly pulled out more data on him and the other two men he came with, showing that the likelyhood of it being the same man was extremely large.
Ahh, the advantage of knowing who to ask for help. I am glad you knew who that person was.
