Unlike any McCormicks I've ever known, these people seem rather stubborn and persist on keeping out of sight. Here's what I've found thus far:

MCCORMICK JOHN
KELLY MARGARET
married 1873 ref 628/ 105
Cambusnethan

1881 Census
MCCORMICK JOHN 27
MCCORMICK MARGARET 26
MCCORMICK ANNIE 6
ref 655/3 1/ 22
Shotts (Western District)

1891 Census

MCCORMICK ANN F 16
MCCORMICK MAGGIE F 9
MCCORMICK MARIA F 5
MCCORMICK MARGARET F 36
MCCORMICK MARY F 7
ref 655/3 1/ 2
Shotts (Western District)
Lanark

1901 Census
MCCORMICK MARGARET F 18
MCCORMICK MARY F 16
MCCORMICK MARGARET F 45
MCCORMICK ----- F 13
ref 654/ 1/ 45
Rutherglen
Lanark

I assume John died prior to 1891 and the blank girl aged 13 is Maria.

If all the above information is correct then my best guess is that your Maria married in 1906

MCCORMICK
MARIA
JOINSON
HENRY
1906
654/ 13
Rutherglen

There being no corresponding Scottish record of death for either Joinson or Johnson I would explore the possibility that she emigrated.

This is interesting. Scottish records are kept even when a mistake has been made. Likely the bride gave her mother's maiden name instead of her own on one of the forms so we see 2 records with the same reference number

JOINSON
HENRY
KELLY
MARIA
1906
654/ 13
Rutherglen

Possibly she didn't venture very far. If this is she then it is possible they raised a flock of children in the Runcorn area of England.

Deaths Mar 1973
JOINSON MARIA 3SE1885
BUCKLOW ref 10A 306
Bill

you are correct John died prior to this.He died in a poorhouse.

I'm sure you must have followed up on the Joison-McCormicks in England. Quite the shocker, eh?
