Are there any Pugh's on the site from Lee Co. Virginia?

Question

I am trying to locate my paternal grandmother's family. Her name is Mary Evelyn Pugh, she was born in 1933 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Her mother's name was Minnie Mae Murphy (she went by Mae), her father's name was John Pugh. John and Mae also had a son by the name of John W. Pugh (lived in Georgia - wife's name is Faye).

Mae was the daughter of John C. Murphy and Eva Murphy.

I am trying to research my family tree for knowledge of any native american ancestry as well as just learning who I am related to. Any help, or search tips would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you for you time.

To search to see if there is a particular person already with a profile, type the surname PUGH in the surname search box.  Once you get the list of all the PUGH profiles you can click resort them alphabetically from the instructions at the top of the page.

Scroll down and you will find all the John Pugh's that have been entered, some are from Virginia although they may be further back than you are looking for.

If you find one that you think might match, you can also inquire of that profile manager for more details or to share your information.

On the left hand side, under the profile details you'll see a line that looks like this:

Once you get some details like the ones below, then you can plug in individuals, siblings, parents etc to find more details.  Sometimes a child’s birth, marriage or death record can provide a missing maiden name of the mother etc.  The census data, although not always accurate gives an approximate year and location of birth to start your searches with.
