Names of Parents of my 2x Great Grandfather?

I'm trying to find the parents of my 2X Great Grandfather, Fredrick Walters. Approx DOB 1815 +/3. Believe he was born in Virginia.  Last know place Shenandoah County, 1842. He was married to Priscilla Ray on 5 Nov, 1842 in Shenandoah, Va. This is the only record I have found on him.  His wife Priscilla is on the 1850 Census with their four chirldren and another child age 15, who would be too old to be his child.  Could be a sibeling or a relative.

Very common for families to take in nieces and nephews and young cousins when their parents die or are otherwise unable to care for them (for example, if incarcerated).

Given that Frederick does not appear on Census 1850 I think it more likely in this case that Frederick has died or left and the 15 year old is a relative sent to Priscilla to lend a hand on the farm, or around the house .

You may want to try contacting the county govt in Shenandoah. They may still have some local records of birth & death (possibly only initials for 1st names, etc). Based on what you've said he may have died between the birth of his last child & the 1850 census.
