Origins of Rebecca Pierce Covell 1780-1848?

Just tossing this out in case someone has any information that would be helpful. Rebecca B Pierce Covell was born 1780. Her linked parents never left Bristol County, Massachusetts. She is seen born Berkshire County, Mass (opposite end of state) and Chemung County, NY (where she is buried). The middle initial "B" may be correct (it repeats in the family) but what it stands for is unknown. I've found nothing online that is substantiated and the geographical gaffe between birth location and parents location is repeated at every platform I have checked. Wrote the Chemung (NY) County Historian but just seeing if anyone has any additional info of creative thoughts.

I haven't looked, but have you gone down through all the kids and checked their census, marriage & death records to see if they consistantly say that their mother was born in Vermont, or elsewhere? Just tossing that out there.
Only three of the children are thought to have lived long enough (1880) for the place of birth of parent question to be on the Federal Census:

One has moved to Ontario, Canada (though it seems many records for him confuse two people of the same name, one a MD the other a mill wright).

Polly Covell Otterson (Ottarson) does list the place of mother's birth as Vermont on 1880 Census. Thought this was new but now see I had already entered this on the profile.

Nancy is known to have died sometime after 1866 but the Census record that seems to come up for her does not seem to be hers or she has died and the husband has remarried.

There are no standardized death records for any of these children and none have been found that name place of birth of parents.

That's the burial info I have. There were at least eight children. She is buried in same plot as husband and his second wife, Hannah Scribner Courtwright.
I wonder why the Cemetery would have a question mark before William's birth and death numbers?

What site are you looking at with that for son William (who is my line)? I find this on Joyce Tice's site: http://www.joycetice.com/cemb/covellcm.htm with death date 26 Feb 1874 at age 74y10m5d. I didn't find another cemetery listing.

Chemung County Historical Society archivist says (19 Feb 2019) that her birth in Chemung appears incorrect. New research entered on the profile shows that she is probably born in Vermont with much of her family following her and husband James when they move. This John Pierce and his first wife Miriam appear likely to be the parents however this John Pierce profile may be conflated with yet another John Pierce for place and date of birth (the profile has no documentation except for date of death).

Have attached this John Pierce as the father based on current available research which shows that John's documented son Leonard (Lannard) lives adjacent she and her husband for a number of years in two locations.

My suspicion now is that the parentage of this John Pierce is incorrect (and quite likely that of his wife). I have adopted the profile but there is so far nothing that suggests the lineage to which he is attached is correct. Any thoughts from the WikiTree Pierce Untanglers?
