A situation has developed with a member who is not a profile manager of two profiles, insisting on a merge, editing the two profile involved and now being insulting

Help.
closed with the note: Enough already.  The complaint is now with a mentor.

Hi Beryl

See: Problems with Members

Sorry you had to witness of such things.

Do you mean in person?  We have it on e-mail and comments
Whether it was in G2G or in email about a wikitree subject a Mentor Intervention Request is applicable. After you file a MIR a mentor/mediator may request additional information.

I've sent a e-mail plea for help to WikiMediators

The instructions are too difficult to follow on the MIR and I'm too upset and too difficult to read all the wording there.

I recognize the situation you are talking about. A MIR was definitely appropriate.

But I see that you wiped out the entire content of the profile where this confrontation occurred. That may simply fan some flames. The mentor might advise you to restore one of the prior versions of the profile.
Well, my response to the dispute was to add sources, correct profiles, discuss problems, and point out what was wrong with her assertions. Her response was to vandalize a profile.
If someone wants to come on here and tell me that <ref>Nathan Bennet</ref> or <ref>Source: #S11810</ref> is a good source citation, go ahead.
Ben That #S11810 is not a source, it is a waste of time, I too just came across a file like that and it had 13 sources for the name and 9 sources for the birth BUT the birth date was still approximate. I spend a lot of my time trying to put sources in that others can check.  Maybe gedcoms should be outlawed.
Yeah, they imported a bunch of stuff and just left the internal GEDCOM reference numbers without importing the reference itself. Then they made a big deal about how they couldn't merge the profile with another profile because the references in the other were so bad. All I was trying to communicate is that their references were not particularly any better than the ones in the other profiles, but apparently it's an insult if you tell people their references aren't very good.
Well, Ben, most people have not worked on anything collaboratively where they have an editor before. In volunteer projects we have to remember to be inclusive rather than exclusive. Although I also find gedcom merge clean up highly annoying for similar reasons.
I think I bent over backwards to accommodate them. The person central to this dispute has been on Wikitree since 2016 and is still talking about the problem of having "outsiders" getting involved with profiles.

Here's a direct quotation:

"There are too many "outsiders" involved in this family ancestry.   Has
anyone asked the other profile managers ??"

Should I not interpret at as inherently anti-collaborative? We don't want you "outsiders" telling us how to run our profiles?

G2G is not the appropriate way to address conflicts that have reached this level of contention. If you are having difficulty working with someone, please use the Problems with Members process on the Help menu.
